SERMON SERIES
Series Overview

The Book of Acts tells us that Jesus followers were first called “Christians” in Antioch. It was a title used to mock and persecute the first disciples, but the name stuck. The “Christians” were people whose identity was forged by Jesus. They wanted to be like Him.  They wanted everyone to know Him.  They wanted to continue His mission.  And they were ready to suffer like Jesus did.To be called Christian…was exactly what they wanted.  In every way, they longed to be “little Christs.”  The title “Christian” has mixed reviews today, just like when it was first used. For some it implies certain political views, or anti-intellectual convictions. For others, Christians are close-minded or irrelevant. In this series, we will walk with the first disciples named “Christians” to relearn our identity as people changed by our encounter with the living Jesus.
