GRACE CHURCH BETHLEHEM

About Us

We are a
Community of
People Invested in Grace.

We are all ages, living in different neighborhoods, with different stories who have been shaped by grace. Together, we invite all people to know the grace that Jesus offers. That commitment shapes how we come together on Sunday morning, and how we scatter throughout the Lehigh Valley during the week.

If you are new to the faith, have questions, or you are new to the Lehigh Valley, we invite you to come, ask, and see. In worship, in groups, and in serving, our prayer is that you will take steps to know Jesus who is the grace-giver and life-changer.

We have a Deep History
with a Fresh Vision.

150 years ago, a group of people gathered at the YMCA to prayerfully consider planting a new Christian community. That was the first group of Presbyterians to be in the Lehigh Valley. That group worshipped in several locations as it grew and God blessed.

Back in 2018, God was moving in a new way. A group of over 1200 launched out to begin a new Presbyterian Church. We prayerfully chose the name “GRACE Church Bethlehem.” After claiming our new name, we began a praying and dreaming process about our future ministry and mission. In April 2023, we moved into our new campus, located in one of the fastest-growing locations in the Lehigh Valley.

OUR NAME

GRACE

Our Church Exists to Invite All to Know the GRACE of Jesus.

GRACE is central
to our relationship with God.

Our relationship to God comes through God’s grace to us, shown through Jesus Christ.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

Grace links us to our history as Reformed and Presbyterian.

During the Reformation, Sola Gratia  (“Grace Alone”) was named as one of the five central truths of the faith by Martin Luther.

GRACE is central
to living out our relationship
with God.

Jesus was known for his grace as he lived out his ministry.

And the Word (Jesus) became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14

Christians imitate Jesus when we show grace to all people.

Christians should be grace-filled in all circumstances. This has always been a mark of believers - showing in the way they greeted each other and by the way Christians live their lives.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
1 Thessalonians 5:28

Let your gentleness be evident to all.
Philippians 4:5

OUR VISION

Inviting all People to Know the GRACE of Jesus.

Core Commitments

Jesus Focused

We believe that it is through Jesus Christ, and only Jesus Christ, and his perfect obedience and sacrifice of himself, that we are fully reconciled with God in this life and the next. We believe Jesus is who he says he is – “the way, the truth, and the life”, and that no one can have a relationship with God except through Jesus.

We believe that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ changes us and reshapes our life purpose. As Christians, we confess that Jesus, fully human and fully divine, is both our Lord who claims our devotion and our Savior whose death on the cross secures our forgiveness. Everything we do at GRACE Church centers on lifting up the name of Jesus and inviting people to know Him personally.

Biblically Based

We believe the Bible is the unique and authoritative Word of God and teaches all that is necessary for faith and life. The prominence of God’s word over our lives shapes our priorities, and the unrivaled authority of the Bible directs our actions to be in concert with Christ’s very best for our lives.

Presbyterian

“Presbyterian,” is rooted in the Greek word "presbuteros" which means “elder.” This concept defines our system of church government, structured around a group of elders elected by the congregation—the same system of government upon which our country’s democratic philosophies were founded. To be Presbyterian also means we are Presbyterian or“Reformed” in our theology.

Reformed theology is a systematic way of understanding Christian beliefs. These essential beliefs include the sovereignty of God, salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone, the authority of the Bible for faith and life, and our individual duty to be a minister of Christ at all times and in all places.

On-Mission

God has a mission and is at work in every arena of the world. Every believer is called to and has a part in this mission. We show the grace of Jesus Christ that has been shown to us. We strive to live our lives in such a way that the way we work and live points people to our Father in heaven.

We want GRACE to be internally strong, yet externally focused as the heart and hands of Jesus Christ himself, actively directing our energies to the people we serve and the world in which we live so that all will know Jesus. GRACE Church is committed to helping people find their part in God’s mission, using their God-given gifts.
